£573 raised at Boots Sutton!

Our fundraisers were out and about last month and had a smashing result at Boots in Sutton High Street raising over £573! The team stood outside the store playing music for Sunday shoppers and collecting donations. Thank you to everyone who donated – we are a self-funded registered charity and your generosity will contribute to keeping us on air for patients at the Royal Marsden Hospitals.

A big thank you to our volunteers and to Boots Sutton for allowing us to use their forecourt. You rock!

Showtime wins an award!

Kirsten Karron picked up an award at this year’s Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA) Awards for the Best Specialist Music Programme for Showtime.

Judges commented “The minute hear Kirsten’s voice, you’re drawn into the show. She’s warm, she’s friendly and the show is really interesting and varied. Well done, a great presenter and the show does everything you need it to do”.

Well done Kirsten from all of us at Radio Marsden!

Team Radio Marsden broadcast live from the Marsden March

A hot but happy team were at this year’s Banham Marsden March broadcasting live throughout the event. Run by the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, the event is one of the largest fundraisers and this year had approx. 6,000 participants and has so far raised £1.6m!

Throughout the event, the team spoke to participants, gave live commentary, played music and helped support those coming over the finish line. The broadcast was repeated in real time the week after the event for all those who were taking part and couldn’t listen live.

‘A Big Night of Comedy’ part 2

Following on from a fantastic event in November last year, Radio Marsden returned to Reigate Manor on 25th April for the 2nd ‘A Big Night of Comedy’. Featuring comedians including Cally Beaton, Ed Night and Michelle Shaughnessy as well as MC Russell Arathoon, the event was another huge success. Nearly £5,000 has been raised from both events and our heart-felt thanks go out to everyone who attended.

The next ‘A Big Night of Comedy’ takes place on Thursday 14th November – tickets available via Radio Marsden.
